The “In the Beach” real estate team was born when Nick Boothby (Maddy and Greg’s real estate mentor) pioneered the resale of homes in Woodbine Park, which he marketed as the 'New Beach'. This newly developed area, between Lake Ontario and Queen Steet East (due south of Real Estate Homewards head office), has become one of Toronto's most desirable residential locations.  It occupies land west of Woodbine Ave. once famous for its 1874 Woodbine Racetrack (later Greenwood), which operated until replaced in 1993 by the racetrack north of Toronto Airport.  Today Woodbine Park boasts luxury family homes and condominiums that command many of the highest prices in the whole of the Toronto Beaches area.  Its street names Joseph Duggan Rd., Sarah Ashbridge Ave., and Northern Dancer Blvd. recall two historic owners of the Racetrack land and Canada's most prized racehorse.  And Lake Shore Blvd. East's 'Painted Lady' homes are as much a Toronto landmark as San Francisco's same-named fine Victorian homes.  

In 2000 Nick saw a great opportunity to ‘farm’ this brand new Development and build his business.  Colleagues thought him crazy to door-knock on homes that folks had only just moved into! However, Nick persevered and soon secured his first listings.  Thus began a very successful partnership with homeowners who quickly came to rely on Nick's local knowledge & experience to sell & buy these homes.  Nick and his “In the Beach” team have worked diligently to become one of the most recognized and trusted real estate names in this exclusive family neighbourhood.  In 2005 Nick's life partner Christine DeMerchant joined his real estate practice.  She was vital in designing his whole Internet image and in creating property feature sheets and marketing materials. They worked together preparing homes for sale (Christine concentrating on their gardens) and hosting open houses, they became extremely well known to local sellers and buyers alike.  For many years Nick was recognized as a top producer, winning many accolades for his success.  To this day very few, if any, Realtors (or teams) have resold as many Woodbine Park homes as Nick Boothby. As Nick and Christine’s business grew, Maddy joined the team in 2011, followed by Greg in 2013.  Together Maddy and Greg have continued to expand their reach across Toronto.  

Although Nick now enjoys semi-retirement, he is still a registered real estate agent in Ontario and remains active as the team's mentor.
